When Yui joined, the club members, thought mistaken her for a genius in playing the guitar. Yui tells them that she did not know how to play the guitar and was going to leave but the club was determined to make her stay as if they did not have at least four members, the club will be suspended. When Yui decides to stay, she decides to learn how to play the guitar to be of use to the light music club.

In the second year of their high school life, the light music club performed to welcome the freshmen that were joining them and one of them, Nakano Azusa, was moved by their music. Azusa became the other guitarist in the club as she learned how to play the guitar in her fourth grade. At first, she thought the practices in the club would be very difficult due to their awesome performaces but surprisingly, she finds them eating cake and drinking tea in the clubroom instead. Every day just comprises of drinking tea and eating cake after school with unserious practices but amazingly, during live performaces, the club always manages to pull off awesome performaces. Azusa realises that this could only happen due to their bond and the amount of fun they had together.

In the second season, the first four members of the club enters their final year of their high school life. Realising that it would be their final year, they tried to spend as much time together as the club would probably be disbanded after graduation. Azusa did not want them to leave her behind but it wasn't a choice that they could make. The girls decided that when they graduate, they would join the same college together. Azusa was afraid to be alone until her friends, one of them being Yui's younger sister, Hirasawa Ui, transfers to the same club as Azusa.
